We offer two products for trading options:
1. A basic online option trading account that you can request in addition to your Scottrade brokerage account. This account is designed for investors who understand the basics and risks associated with trading options.
2. For advanced options traders, we offer a separate platform called OptionsFirst. This platform is customized for advanced traders who require the latest tools and features for trading complex options strategies. You can learn about all of the features at www.options.scottrade.com.
Both accounts offer simple and straight-forward pricing, you can trade market or limit option orders for $7 plus $1.25 per contract. Our low commissions apply to all option trades, regardless of trade frequency, account balance, or the number of shares in a transaction.
You can apply for an options account by contacting your local branch office. Due to the nature of trading options, all stock option accounts require approval by Scottrade. Options have a high degree of risk, and are not appropriate for all investors. Please read the Options Account Agreement, Brokerage Account Agreement and Characteristics and Risks of Standardized options carefully prior to opening an option investing account.
